Adam Gemili has described winning gold at the European Championships as "the best feeling in the world".
The 20-year-old claimed victory in the men's 200m final this evening with a time of 19.98s, which matched his own personal best.
"I'm so happy," Gemili told BBC Sport. "To become European champion was a big target for me this year and to achieve it is amazing.
"It's really nice that I can come out and do it for the guys behind me. I used to think the only way I'd be able to hear the national anthem was with the England football team. It's a great feeling, it's the best feeling in the world."
Gemili had previously finished second in the men's 100m final at the Championships, with a time of 10.10s.
