World champion Kirani James has qualified for the semi-finals in the 400m with a comfortable victory in his heat.
The Grenadian breezed past his competitors, giving him the opportunity to save energy in the second half of the race and to record a modest time of 45.23s.
Ramon Miller of the Bahamas followed James past the finish line with Liemarvin Bonevacia trailing in third to complete the qualifiers from the race.
James will have to wait until Sunday for the semi-finals.
