LOCOG investigating empty seats on Olympics opening day

LOCOG are investigating why so many empty seats were seen on day one of the Olympics.

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games have revealed that they are looking into why there have been so many empty seats across all Olympics venues, especially those labelled as sell-outs.

The general public struggled to get tickets to the events they wanted when tickets went on sale and the popular days were sold out in minutes, yet spaces were seen at the aquatics centre, in the basketball arena and at Wimbledon on the opening day.

"LOCOG are doing a full investigation into what happened," Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt told the BBC.

"We think it was accredited seats that belong to sponsors, but if they are not going to turn up, we want those tickets to be available for members of the public, because that creates the best atmosphere. So we are looking at this very urgently at the moment."

Day two kicks off with badminton at 8.25am.
