South African Oscar Pistorius has admitted that his emotions nearly got the better of him in his 400m heat.
The crowd inside the Olympic Stadium greeted Pistorius with a warm reception before his race and the athlete was quick to praise the British fans.
"In the blocks I didn't know whether to cry or be happy but then thought I had a job to do," the 27-year-old told BBC Sport. "It was an amazing experience. This crowd is amazing. I've run so many times in the UK and this crowd is like a second home to me.
"It was such a mix of emotions. This is crowd is just amazing. That's what it's all about."
Pistorius will compete in the semi-finals on Sunday after finishing second in his heat.
