Media and communications manager for the IPC Craig Spence claims that all athletes were given the green light to compete in the Paralympic T44 200m final following Oscar Pistorius's "controversial" claims.

Media and communications manager for the International Paralympic Committee Craig Spence has insisted that all sprinters were eligible to compete in the T44 200m final following Oscar Pistorius's "controversial" comments.

The South African hit out against the governing body after missing out on a gold medal, courtesy of a late surge from Brazilian Alan Oliveira.

Pistorius called on the IPC to consider the legal length of all the runners' artificial legs, known as blades, after claiming that Oliveira's blades were too long, which gave him an advantage.

"It does appear to be controversial from last night but we do have rules and all eight athletes passed them with flying colours," Spence told BBC Radio Five Live.

"These rules were signed off by all international paralympic committees around the world. There's no chance of [Oliveira] changing the blades between the core room and the start."

Pistorius has since apologised for the timing of his criticism.
