Great Britain's Olympic champion Jessica Ennis vows to continue in the heptathlon but says that she has not ruled out taking up the hurdles in the future.

Jessica Ennis has said that she will continue her career in the heptathlon after winning gold at London 2012.

Ennis produced a dominant performance to claim the Olympic title but insists that she still has ambitions in the sport.

She told BBC Sport: "I'm still just really emotional. All the pressure is off my shoulders and I have my medal and I can just enjoy it. I've got a permanent smile on and my jaw is aching. It's a brilliant feeling.

"This year I'm now going to have a rest. But next year it's the World Championships for us in Moscow. I definitely feel I want to carry on with the heptathlon and see if I can get closer to the 7,000 points mark. But when my body starts to ache I'd really like to give the hurdles a go."

Ennis has previously considered entering the 100m hurdles and registered a time of 12.54s during London 2012, just two tenths of a second outside the time set in the final by gold medallist Sally Pearson.
