American decathlete Ashton Eaton ran a new Olympic-best 100m time in the decathlon this morning.
Eaton crossed the line in heat three of the 100m at 10.35s, beating the old record by six-hundredths of a second.
The 24-year-old is hot favourite for the Olympic decathlon title and holds the world record in both the decathlon and heptathlon.
The 100m is the first of 10 events, three of which take place this morning - the other two being long jump and shot put.
