Chinese badminton player Yu Yang has said that she is quitting badminton following her Olympic disqualification.

Yu, one of eight players disqualified for "not using one's best efforts to win a match", made her feelings known on Chinese blogging site Weibo.

"This is my last time competing. Goodbye beloved badminton," she said.

Yu's doubles partner Wang Xiaoli also commented on Weibo.

"What you've cancelled is not just a game, but my dream!" said Wang.

China's disqualified badminton players were ordered to "publicly apologise" by Chinese Olympic officials.
