Chandler Parsons has said that he is ready for a "bigger role" following his move to the Dallas Mavericks.
The small forward left the Houston Rockets at the end of the 2013-14 season before agreeing a three-year contract with their Texas rivals.
After former teammate James Harden suggested that he was simply a "role player" with the Rockets, the 25-year-old told Fox Sports Radio: "That's a pretty ridiculous statement if he meant that. That's part of the reason I wanted to go to Dallas, because I'm ready for that next step. I'm ready for a bigger role, and I'm ready for more leadership.
"If anybody should understand that, it's James, because he was in the same situation in Oklahoma City and then he got his chance to come to Houston and shine. I'm not real sure what that means."
Chandler averaged 16.6 points per game with Houston last season.
