The Indiana Pacers have signed free-agent guard AJ Price after abandoning their plans to sign Gal Mekel due to a visa issue.
The Pacers reportedly pulled out of a deal to sign the Israeli point guard after learning that his visa that allows him to play in the NBA would likely not be renewed until Friday after his release from the Dallas Mavericks.
After receiving a hardship waiver from the league due to their injury crisis, the Pacers were understood to be unwilling to wait for Mekel's issues to be resolved, ESPN reports.
As a result, they switched their attention to Price who spent his first three seasons in the NBA with the Pacers before his recent release by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Pacers are currently without Rodney Stuckey, George Hill and CJ Watson due to injury, which leaves Donald Sloan as their only healthy point guard on the roster.
