The Miami Heat have confirmed that forward Chris Bosh has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to blood clots in his lung.
The 30-year-old fell ill while on vacation with teammate Dwyane Wade in Haiti, and a doctor from the team was sent to perform tests on the All-Star.
Bosh was then sent to hospital for further tests where a diagnosis of blood clots on his lung was confirmed, leaving the Heat to take the decision to end his season.
A statement from the club said: "The Miami Heat announced today that Chris Bosh will miss the remainder of the 2014-15 season, while being treated for blood clots on his lung.
"Bosh, who is receiving care under the guidance of Miami Heat team physicians at a Baptist Health System Hospital, is currently resting comfortably. Chris is okay and his prognosis is good."
Initial reports suggest that the problem could take up to six months to fully heal.
