Azerbaijan's Teymur Mammadov has claimed that he deserves to win the gold medal in the men's light-heavyweight boxing at the European Games.
The 22-year-old beat Pavel Silyagin of the Russian Federation in the semi-finals of the event to seal his place in the gold-medal match in Baku.
Mammadov will face off against Italy's Vicenzo Manfredonia, but he feels that he already deserves to win the bout in front of his home crowd.
He told reporters: "I said before that I deserve to get a gold, especially here in my motherland.
"I have never met Vicenzo Manfredonia before, though I watched his fight and I am familiar with the tactics he is using."
The bout between Mammadov and Manfredonia takes place on Thursday.
