Professional boxing trainer Karl Ince has backed England amateur Scott Fitzgerald to go all the way and claim gold at the Commonwealth Games.
The welterweight faces South Africa's Tulani Mbenge tonight knowing that victory would send him into the final of the -69kg class at the weekend.
However, Ince believes that a Games triumph is simply the tip of the iceberg for the "special" 22-year-old, claiming that a glittering professional career awaits him after the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
"I believe in Scott," Ince told the Evening Post. "I've believed in him from day one – when he was going for the National ABA title last year.
"I can see something special about Scott. I believe he's going to win the gold. He's 22-years-old, he can go on to even bigger things.
"He can fight for the Olympic title and when it's time for him to turn pro, he will be a champion in no time."
Fitzgerald's semi-final encounter is scheduled to begin at approximately 8.30pm.
