Sri Lanka's Erandi de Silva was on the canvas in the opening round of her match against the Olympic champion.
De Silva was able to continue, but the Team England fighter was too strong, boxing her way to a comfortable victory, and securing at least a bronze medal.
Adams will face Mandy Bujold of Canada in the semi-finals.
