WBA light middleweight champion Miguel Cotto has said that Antonio Margarito is "an embarrassment to boxing" ahead of their showdown this weekend.
Margarito, who handed Cotto his first professional loss when the two first met in the ring in 2008, was six months later discovered to be wearing illegal handwraps in a separate fight.
Cotto has since branded the Mexican a "criminal" and speculated whether or not his opponent was wearing similar handwraps in their first meeting
"If you don't know what a criminal means, you can look it up in the dictionary," he said.
"It's someone who uses a weapon. We spoke about the wraps on Face Off (preview show on HBO). I showed you a picture of them.
"[Margarito is] like a child. [He is] an embarrassment to boxing. I am going to slap [him] like a little girl."
The fight is scheduled to take place at Madison Square Garden for Cotto's WBA title.
