Amir Khan has revealed that he wants to fight Floyd Mayweather "within the next nine to 12 months".
The 24-year-old light-welterweight world champion says that he will be well prepared to take on the American a year down the line, when he has moved up a division.
"A Mayweather fight, you know that fight can happen within the next nine to 12 months," said the Bolton fighter. "It's a fight that I want, it's a fight that the public want - it's a public demand fight and also boxing fans would love to see that fight instead of Mayweather fighting someone they know he'd beat.
"Against me Mayweather will have problems and it will be a tough fight for him.
"By the time that fight will come I'll be 25. I'll be more mature, more stronger, more experienced. It'll be a perfect time for me."
First up for Khan is a bout with Lamont Peterson next month.
