Light-welterweight Curtis Woodhouse announces that he is retiring from the sport after losing his British title to Willie Limond last month.

British light-welterweight Curtis Woodhouse believes that he can be proud of his achievements in boxing after he decided to call time on his career in the sport.

Woodhouse made the switch from professional football to boxing in 2006, and after losing his British title to Willie Limond last month, the Yorkshireman feels as though he is retiring at the right time.

The 34-year-old told Ringside: "I've had an unbelievable ride. For eight-and-a-half years, I've been in with some of the best that Britain's got to offer.

"After my last fight and losing my British title, I realised not long after that it was time for me to step away from the game.

"I didn't want to stay in there to take unnecessary punishment. I just believe that I got in and achieved everything I wanted to achieve, and I believe that is the perfect time for me to walk away with my head held high and my chest out and pride to my achievements."

Woodhouse recorded 22 victories, including 13 stoppages, in 29 matches in the sport.
