Australia spinner Steve Smith has leapt to the defence of his teammates by insisting that the side does not use silicone tape on their bats in order to avoid dismissal by HotSpot under the DRS method.
Recent reports broke in Australia's Sydney Morning Herald claiming that both England and the Baggy Greens are under investigation by the International Cricket Council following a number of eye-catching DRS decisions during the current Ashes series.
Despite the allegations in the press, Smith is adamant that Australia are innocent.
"I don't think any of us have done anything with silicone," Smith told Sky Sports News.
"We put fibre glass on the front purely for the protection of the bat - to try and make our favourite bats last as long as they can."
The fourth Test takes place in Durham from Friday.
