Australia are 458 runs ahead of England for the loss of just four wickets in the second innings at The Gabba.

England have managed to take the wickets of David Warner and Michael Clarke, although Australia have built a commanding lead of 458 at tea on the third day of the first Ashes Test in Brisbane.

Warner brought up triple figures for the first time against the old enemy just after lunch at The Gabba, and in doing so he became the first centurion of this winter's series Down Under.

However, the 27-year-old left-hander was finally dispatched when Stuart Broad found the outside edge, and Matt Prior took the catch to send him back for 124, thereby ending a 148-run partnership with skipper Clarke.

Chris Tremlett then struck to remove Steve Smith for a duck three overs later, although George Bailey has kept the home side well on track, smashing two sixes in his 33 runs from 56 balls.

Clarke (113) went on to rack up his 25th Test match century, but eventually fell when tempted down the track by Graeme Swann, only to miss wildly and have his stumps whipped off by Prior.

That means Brad Haddin (1*) will continue with Bailey after tea with Australia 299-5 in their second innings.
