Sri Lanka spin bowler Ajantha Mendis has become the first cricketer to take six wickets in a Twenty20 international as his country claimed a 2-0 series victory over Australia.

The hosts won the match by eight runs, posting a total of 157-9 while the Aussies could only manage 149-9 in reply.

However, 26-year-old Mendis received the most attention, having registered figures of 6-16.

Mendis claimed the wickets of Shane Watson, David Warner, Shaun Marsh, Steve Smith, Brad Haddin and Mitchell Johnson in Kandy.
