David Warner: 'Australia need a few more runs'

David Warner believes that Australia need to add to their 326-run advantage ahead of the final day of the third Test.

Australia opener David Warner has suggested that the hosts will bat on ahead of the final day of the third Test against India in Melbourne.

The hosts will start with a 326-run lead with three wickets in hand, but Warner believes that captain Steve Smith is likely to delay a declaration as they go in search of a win which would give them a 3-0 series lead.

"We saw in the Adelaide Test how well they fought there and luckily we got the breakthrough because it could have been a different story," Warner told reporters. "They would have gone 1-0 up. We know what their batting lineup is like - [Virat] Kohli and [Ajinkya] Rahane put on a great partnership.

"They had their luck but they went on with it and got big scores. That is in the back of our mind. We know the positive brand of cricket they are playing now and we have got to come out with the ball and either dry it up or take those ten wickets. I think we need a few more runs than what we have got on the board at the moment."

Shaun Marsh (62*) and Ryan Harris (8*) will be at the crease at the start of the day for the hosts.
