James Anderson believes that England can achieve ‘great things’ if they continue to improve as a team.
England are currently ranked number three in the world but if they win their series against current leaders India by two Tests or more they will take their place at the top.
They head into Friday’s second Test at Trent Bridge one up after their victory at Lord’s and Anderson is desperate for a repeat result.
"We're trying to improve each day, as individuals and as a team. If we can do that, we know we can do great things," he said.
"Lord's has gone now. We enjoyed that last day, enjoyed winning. Becoming the number one team in the world is an overriding goal, but it's not something we go into each game thinking about.
"Everyone's chipping in. If we need someone to step up, generally someone is doing that.”
