England opener Adam Lyth insists that his game is currently "in great order", despite scoring just 50 runs in four innings during the Ashes series to date.

England batsman Adam Lyth has admitted that he and his teammates are eagerly awaiting this week's third Ashes Test.

The five-match series is currently locked at 1-1 heading into the latest showdown at Edgbaston, which gets underway on Wednesday morning.

Lyth has struggled with the bat so far against the Aussies, scoring just 50 runs in four innings, but he insists that his game is in "great order" at this moment in time.

"There has been some time between the Tests which has been nice," he wrote on his Facebook page. "I've had a couple of hits, time with family and a bit of golf which is where I've got away from cricket.

"I stepped up preparations at the back end of last week by having two good hits and then two before this game. I feel my game is in great order despite having a few low scores in the opening two Tests so I'm looking forward to getting back out in the middle for England Cricket.

"We had a good session yesterday outside on the colts ground but today we were inside with the heavy rain about but we got what we needed to do indoor so the lads are ready!"

Lyth has previously stated that he has no intention of changing his batting style, despite registering a low scoring tally.
