Matt Prior hungry for England recall

:Headline: Matt Prior hungry for England recall: ID:127105: from db_amp
Matt Prior feels that he let the England leadership down with the performances that saw him dropped, but insists that he will not give up on his international career.

Matt Prior has insisted that he will fight to save his England career and feels that he "let people down" in the process of being dropped from the team.

The wicketkeeper-batsman was left out of the tourists' side for the fourth Test in Melbourne, which England lost by eight wickets on Sunday.

His omission came after he scored just 240 runs in 15 innings against Australia during back-to-back Ashes series, and although Prior has admitted that return is far from good enough, he has vowed that his international career is not over yet.

"My hunger to play for England and get back in the team is as high as it has ever been," he wrote in his column in The Telegraph.

"There has been a lot of talk about whether that is it for me and England will move on, but I am only 31 and still have a lot of cricket left to play.

"The disappointing aspect for me is that I feel like I have let people down. In particular, I have let Alastair Cook down as captain and Graham Gooch as batting coach."

Jonny Bairstow, who took the gloves in Prior's absence at the MCG, scored 10 and 21 in his two innings and claimed six dismissals behind the stumps.
