Stuart Broad insists that celebrating Ashes success too early will take England to a "dangerous place" against an Australia side seeking revenge.

Stuart Broad has warned his England teammates to not get carried away as they close in on a famous Ashes triumph.

The Three Lions opened up a 214-run lead over their opponents in the fourth Test after a memorable first day at Trent Bridge.

Broad himself took a career-best 8-15 to help bowl the tourists all out for 60, leaving England on the brink of a series victory heading into day two in Nottingham.

"We've been conscious all week not to talk about winning The Ashes - because I think that mentally takes you to quite a dangerous place," he told Sky Sports News.

"[Alastair] Cook said again at the end of the day's play 'Let's enjoy the next hour in the changing room; we've had a fantastic day, one of the best England have had in The Ashes ever - but let's reset for day two'."

England lost the last Ashes series 5-0 Down Under two years ago.
