Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan believes that the second Ashes Test in Adelaide could become "difficult" for the tourists.
Australia closed day one on 273-5 with captain Michael Clarke and Brad Haddin remaining on 48 and seven respectively.
"If Clarke gets a hundred the Aussies will get near on 400 and its going to be difficult, I do think this pitch is playing like a day three pitch already," Vaughan told BBC Radio 5 live.
"England have made the right call. I like Ben Stokes, he looked the part, he looks like he belongs out in the middle, what they got wrong is losing the toss, because England will need a lead."
James Anderson, Graeme Swann and Monty Panesar took one wicket apiece, while Stuart Broad nabbed two.
