If he suffers "no setbacks" from his recent knee injury, bowler Stuart Broad says that he will be ready to play for England at the one-day international World Cup.

Stuart Broad has revealed that he is hoping to be fit for next year's one-day international World Cup.

The Nottinghamshire bowler underwent surgery in September on a knee injury that had threatened to cut short his career.

However, having recently restarted training, the 28-year-old has switched his attention to returning to action with England at the 50-over tournament in February.

"The surgery has gone brilliantly. I've been running flat out now for two and a half weeks and I did my first proper bowling last Friday. I'll go to Potchefstroom with the England Lions on December 1," he told Nottinghamshire's official website.

"If I have no setbacks I'll be good to go for the World Cup. I needed the break, though. By the end of last summer I was emotionally shattered. The summer was tough physically and mentally."

Broad has made 108 appearances for England at one-day international level, from which he has taken 168 wickets.
