England remain in control of the fourth and final Test against India by snatching four wickets as India's reply to the visitors' 330 total sits at 87 on stumps of day two.

England have taken control of the fourth and final Test against India by snatching four wickets in the evening session as the hosts closed the day on 87 runs.

The visitors took to the crease this morning to try to improve their first innings total from yesterday and Joe Root, who impressed in his Test debut. managed to rack up 73 runs before getting dismissed. Matt Prior was bowled out for 57 before the youngster.

Tim Bresnan, Graeme Swann and James Anderson all fell after lunch to give England a total of 330 as India emerged onto the crease for the reply.

An early wicket for the tourists helped keep England in contention for the series after Virender Sehwag was bowled by Anderson for a duck after India had scored just one run in their first innings.

The wickets kept tumbling as Swann managed to clinch Cheteshwar Pujara with India on 59 after his throw forced the batsman to hit his shot towards the hands of Ian Bell.

Sachin Tendulkar, who is rumoured to be considering retirement after this Test series, was called on to help increase the home side's run-rate but his time at the crease was short-lived after Anderson's straight ball resulted in Tendulkar edging the ball onto his own stumps.

Anderson continued his fine form by ending Gautam Gambhir's time at the crease for 37 by launching a swinging ball that found Gambhir's outside edge and was easily caught by Prior.

Virat Kohli and MS Doni remain unbeaten on the close of day two as England, who lead the series 2-1, increase their chances of clinching a historic victory in India.
