Matt Prior remains defiant

Wicketkeeper Matt Prior remains confident that England can collect a positive result from their Test match against New Zealand.

Matt Prior has insisted that England are capable of saving their Test match and series against New Zealand in Wellington over the next two days.

The tourists were bowled out for just 204 runs on day three of the encounter, before the Kiwis ended on 35-3 and a lead of 274 runs.

However, despite the fact that his team are up against it, Prior believes that with a combination of "skill" and "luck", England can rescue themselves from the situation.

"We're now in a position where we're going to need a bit of luck and a lot of skill," Prior told reporters.

"But if we can come in the morning and believe we can get early wickets, who knows? It's still a good deck. We're going to have to bat a lot better, obviously but we can chase these runs."

Prior topscored for England with a knock of 73 runs before he was caught at point.
