England stretch their lead over the West Indies to 328 runs, with just Joe Root falling in the morning session of day four of the first Test in Antigua.

England have stretched their lead over the West Indies to 328 runs at lunch on day four of the first Test in Antigua.

Joe Root's dismissal was the only wicket lost in the morning session as Gary Ballance and Ben Stokes also contributed with runs to push the tourists to an even healthier position.

England began the day with a 220-run lead and they added to that swiftly with a decent partnership between Ballance and Root.

After overcoming the first four-over spell from Jerome Taylor, Root pushed on to hit a two and bring up a Test half-century from 68 balls, but his time at the crease came to an end nine runs later.

The Yorkshireman was left shaking his head when he played a defensive shot onto his stumps off the bowling of Jason Holder, leaving Ballance and Ben Stokes to continue the attack.

There was no sign of captain Alastair Cook looking to declare as the duo kept churning out runs to improve England's lead, but there was a shaky moment when the West Indies called for a review when Stokes was given not-out for lbw off Sulieman Benn.

Unfortunately for the hosts, the decision stood, which allowed Stokes and Ballance to end the morning session unbeaten on 33 and 92 runs respectively.

England sit 224-4 in their second innings.
