England are set a record run-chase to win the second Test against New Zealand at lunch on day four at Headingley.

England have been set a record run-chase to win the second Test against New Zealand following a busy morning session on day four at Headingley.

Needing 455 runs to triumph, the hosts are currently on 32-0 after the tourists declared on 454-8.

Having started the morning session on 338-6, New Zealand wasted little time in piling on the runs as BJ Watling and Tim Southee punished England's bowlers at the crease.

Watling was eventually dismissed by James Anderson for 120, while Southee reached 40 off 41 balls before he was sent back to the pavilion by Moeen Ali. Mark Craig and Matt Henry posted unbeaten scores of 58 and 12 respectively when New Zealand declared.

Alastair Cook (15 not out) and Adam Lyth (15 not out) will resume out in the middle when play gets back underway this afternoon, though England are facing a tough battle to get the runs that they need.
