New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor scores 119 as New Zealand set England a target of 399 in the second one-day international at The Oval.

Ross Taylor has struck 119 off 96 balls as New Zealand reached 398-5 from their 50 overs in the second one-day international against England at The Oval.

After winning the toss, Brendon McCullum went on the offensive by hitting five fours and two maximums before he was eventually dismissed for 39 off 22 deliveries by Liam Plunkett.

Compared to his teammates, Martin Guptill's run-a-ball half-century was unspectacular but alongside Kane Williamson, he helped the Kiwis past 100 before he fell for 50 with the score on 114-2 off 18 overs.

Williamson and Taylor put on a 119-run stand for the third wicket before Williamson fell seven runs short of his century. Grant Elliott added a quick-fire 32 to take New Zealand to 307-4 with nine overs remaining.

Chris Jordan fell to figures of 1-97 - equalling Steve Harmison's record for most runs conceded by an England bowler in a one-day international - as Taylor brought up his 13th century in this form of the game off 87 balls.

Luke Ronchi added 33 while Mitchell Santner made an unbeaten 15, but the session belonged to Taylor, who hit 10 fours and four sixes during his knock to leave England chasing almost eight runs per over.
