A collapse of eight wickets for 45 runs by the West Indies allows India to level up the one-day series with a 48-run victory in Delhi, as Virat Kohli returns to form.

West Indies lost eight wickets for 45 runs as India levelled up the one-day series with a 48-run victory today.

India's batsmen were forced to battle hard on challenging surface in Delhi, but a stand of 105 between Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina helped them reach 263-7.

Dwayne Smith and Kieron Pollard batted the tourists into a match-winning position at 170-2 before Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja ripped apart the Windies lower order.

A scorecard reading 74-3 in the 18th over meant that Kohli and Raina had to initially curb their attacking instincts, but it did not take long for the latter to get going as he hit two sixes on his way to a half-century, while his teammate grafted away at the other end.

Windies captain Dwayne Bravo used eight different bowlers in a bid to break the partnership, and it was when he turned back to opening pair Ravi Rampaul and Jerome Taylor that Kohli and Raina were dismissed.

Both batsmen went for 62 and had set the platform for captain MS Dhoni to once again prove that he is one of the best finishers in world cricket by blasting 51 from 40 balls to take India to an imposing total.

Smith and Darren Bravo put on 64 as West Indies made a promising start to their reply and Pollard, promoted up the order to number three, built upon these foundations by hitting three maximums in a quickfire 40.

Having anchored the innings at a run a ball, Smith fell three runs short of his century when he was bowled by Shami, who finished with figures of 4-36 and bowled well in tandem with Jadeja.

The spinning all-rounder picked up the wickets of Darren Sammy and Andre Russell to end the Windies' hopes of reaching their target as India exacted revenge for their heavy defeat in Kochi earlier this week.

Game three of the series takes place on Tuesday at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
