New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by 120 runs in the sixth ODI at the University Oval this morning to wrap up victory in the seven-game series.
The hosts elected to bat after winning the toss and an unbeaten 97 from Kane Williamson, coupled with a 96 from Ross Taylor, helped the Kiwis post 315-8.
The target proved too great as Sri Lanka finished all out on 195 for New Zealand to boast an unassailable 4-1 lead heading into the final game.
Kumar Sangakkara provided the only real contribution at the crease following a combined 50 from openers Lahiru Thirimanne [29] and Tillakaratne Dilshan [21].
Sangakkara posted 81 before being removed by Trent Boult, and it was all downhill from there as reaching double figures soon represented an achievement by virtue of Sri Lanka's collective struggles.
Corey Anderson dismissed Mahela Jayawardene [nine] and Dimuth Karunaratne [26], while Dinesh Chandimal [nine]and Ajantha Mendis [three] also fell by the wayside.
Anderson completed his treble of wickets later on by removing Thisara Perera for two.
The seventh and last game gets underway on Thursday.
