Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has lost an appeal against his lifetime ban from cricket issued by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
The 32-year-old was shunned by the ECB in July last year after he was found guilty of corruption, relating to former Essex player Mervyn Westfield's claims that Kaneria had encouraged him to accept money to underperform in a county clash against Durham in September 2009.
Following the verdict, Kaneria lodged an appeal to overturn the lifetime ban, but an independent panel has today announced that the leg-spinner has been unsuccessful.
Due to the spot-fixing investigation, Kaneria, who had 261 Test wickets to his name, was dropped from the Pakistan team in September 2010.
