Melbourne Stars have secured a home semi-final in the Big Bash League thanks to a five-wicket victory over Hobart Hurricanes at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The Hurricanes were put into bat first and made 131-9 off their 20 overs before the Stars reached their target of 132-5 with five balls remaining.
Hobart opener Tim Paine was dismissed with a first-ball duck as the visitors got off to a bad start, but Travis Birt (31), Ben Dunk (30) and Aiden Blizzard (28) helped them recover to post a competitive score at the crease.
John Hastings, Scott Boland and Marcus Stoinis all took two wickets each for Melbourne, while Mike Hussey and Jackson Bird were also successful with the ball.
The home side's task was made easier by Luke Wright's impressive knock of 52 off 36 balls before Hussey (19), Stoinis (10) and Peter Handscomb (10) saw them over the line.
Ben Laughlin was the pick of the Hobart bowlers as he finished with figures of 2-28.
