Kyle Coetzer praises Scotland performance despite World Cup exit

Kyle Coetzer believes that Bangladesh deserve huge credit for chasing down 319 to overcome his Scotland side in today's pool meeting at the Cricket World Cup.

Scotland batsman Kyle Coetzer has failed to hide his disappointment after seeing his side's Cricket World Cup hopes come to an early end.

A six-wicket victory for Bangladesh in Nelson ensured that Scotland will not advance beyond the pool stage.

Coetzer hit 156 runs to help set Bangladesh a total of 319, while also becoming his country's first player to reach a century in the showpiece event, but it was not enough against a ruthless opponent.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the match, the 30-year-old said: "We've been capable of doing it in the previous matches but not quite managed to put the game together.

"We played a pretty good game of cricket today. We just weren't able to create that pressure to pick up the wickets. We're still searching to get the full package together.

"It showed the amount of cricket that Bangladesh have played. They cruised it in the end. They knew how to chase down a score like that."

Scotland still have two matches left to play at the World Cup, as they take on Sri Lanka and Australia in the next nine days.
