South Africa have been penalised five runs for ball tampering during their Test match with Pakistan.
The team could also face further sanctions at the conclusion of the game in Dubai after it was revealed that the reason for the change of ball after 30 overs was due to ball tampering. No individual player has been charged as yet.
An ICC spokesman said: "As per 42.1 of the ICC playing conditions, the umpires replaced the ball and fined South Africa team five penalty runs for ball tampering."
South Africa had opened a 418-run lead over their opponents when the incident occurred.
