Cyclist Sir Chris Hoy has been named as the favourite to bear the flag for Great Britain at the Olympics opening ceremony.
The four-time gold medallist is on a nine-strong shortlist with other high-profile athletes, including Rebecca Adlington, Ben Ainslie, and Tom Daley.
Team members will hold a vote to determine the flagbearer on Monday, but Hoy is believed to be the frontrunner at this stage.
However, the cyclist could have a scheduling conflict to resolve as he and his teammates will be at their training base in Wales until one day after the ceremony, The Metro reports.
The London 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony takes place on July 27.
