Great Britain's Paralympic cyclist Jon-Allen Butterworth believes that yesterday's "crash" contributed to his downfall in the men's individual C5 time trial.

The Brit, who lost his left arm in an explosion during his time in the RAF, finished 12th in the race at Brands Hatch today.

The cyclist later revealed that he had been hit by a British tandem yesterday, which left him bruised on his knee and right arm.

Butterworth tweeted: "Wow that was hard! Definitely feeling yesterday's crash! Thanks for all the support and well wishes."

Butterworth won a silver medal for ParalympicsGB in the velodrome last week.
