Michael van Gerwen has overcome a slow start to win the Grand Slam of Darts with a 16-13 victory against Phil Taylor.
The world number one went into the match looking to win the tournament for the first time to complete his set of PDC Majors, and he did so emphatically after seeing his rival power into an early lead.
Taylor opened up a 7-3 advantage, but in the third session, he missed a total of nine darts at a double to allow Van Gerwen to reel off five successive legs, and that proved costly during the latter stages.
Six-time champion Taylor battled on gamely, maintaining a one-leg deficit after 25 legs, but he was unable to withstand another onslaught from Van Gerwen as he moved one away from the title.
In the 29th leg, three poor scoring visits from Taylor allowed Van Gerwen to move clear before he hit double 18 at the second time of asking to cap off an impressive week in Wolverhampton.
