London 2012 silver medallist Paul Blake goes one better at the Rio Games by winning gold in the T36 400m, crossing the line in a time of 54.49s.

Three-time world champion Paul Blake took control of the T36 400m from the off to claim victory and earn a 50th gold medal of the Rio 2016 Paralympics for Great Britain.

The 26-year-old, a silver medallist on home soil four years ago, went one better on this occasion as he crossed the line in 54.49s to overcome the challenge of Ukraine's Roman Pavlyk.

William Stedman of New Zealand finished 0.02s behind Pavlyk to earn a place on the podium, but neither athlete could assert enough pressure on Blake on the final straight as the Dorchester native added to his personal medals tally.

Blake could add another gold to his and GB's collection this weekend, too, as he is competing in the 800m event on Saturday.
