Former AC Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi has blamed the Rossoneri's poor start to the campaign on injury problems, while admitting that they will find it hard to make up lost ground.
Milan have won just two matches rhis season to leave them 13th in Serie A, with Massimiliano Allegri's men still searching for a first away success of the campaign.
Inzaghi believes that Milan will able to compete at the top of Serie A with a full compliment of players, but concedes that they face an uphill battle to recover from a poor start.
He told Milan's official channel: "Milan are paying for a number of injuries, but they are recovering many of the players now.
"It will be hard to make up the points gap with the other direct competitors, but I think that with a full team we can do it."
The 40-year-old currently works at Milan as coach of the Allievi Nazionali youth side, a role he took up last year.
