AC Milan have edged to a 2-1 victory over Genoa to move level on points with 10th-placed Torino in Serie A this evening.
The visitors took the lead in the 20th minute when Adel Taarabt lit up an otherwise uneventful half with a fine solo effort that saw him beat a number of men before firing past the keeper from outside the box.
It was 2-0 just 10 minutes after the restart as Keisuke Honda picked up a good pass from Taarabt inside the area before producing an equally impressive finish to double his side's lead.
Genoa pulled a goal back with just over 15 minutes of the match remaining, however, as Christian Abbiati turned the ball into his own net to hand the hosts a lifeline.
They almost took full advantage of that lifeline moments later when Stefano Sturaro found himself in a glorious position to equalise, but Abbiati somewhat redeemed himself with an important stop.
The hosts could not find a leveller in the closing stages as Milan saw the game out to pick up three points that increase their chances of a top-half finish.
