Portuguese side Academica de Coimbra have produced something of a shock by beating Atletico Madrid 2-0 in the Europa League this evening.
The hosts took the lead just before the half-hour mark when Wilson Eduardo latched on to Joao Dias's cross to fire his shot into the bottom-left corner.
Madrid almost equalised 10 minutes later through Raul Garcia, but his header missed to the left after Koke had found him in the box.
Cleyton was well denied for Academica just before half-time when his low shot from outside the box was saved by Sergio Asenjo.
Madrid pushed on in search of an equaliser in the second half, with Koke, Emre Belozoglu and Raul Garcia all coming close, but it was Academica who got the second goal of the game.
Jorge Pulido brought down Salim Cisse in the box, allowing Eduardo to step up and score his second of the game.
Madrid had no response to this second goal as Academica held out for a famous victory.
