Marseille will look to maintain their unbeaten start to the 2022-23 season when they travel to the Stade de l'Abbe Deschamps on Sunday to face Auxerre.

The hosts, meanwhile, are looking to bounce back after their three-game unbeaten run was ended by a 2-1 defeat to Lyon in midweek.

Match preview

Auxerre struggled in their opening two matches, losing 4-1 away to Lille before giving up a two-goal lead to draw against Angers in their first home game of the season.

However, they got their campaign up and running on matchday three after they came from a goal behind to beat Montpellier 2-1.

Another victory followed against Strasbourg, which presented Auxerre with the chance to claim a third consecutive win in their midweek away encounter with Lyon.

As it proved, they could do nothing to prevent the hosts from claiming a narrow 2-1 victory, which leaves Auxerre in a respectable ninth place ahead of Saturday's contest.

Although they lost in midweek, Jean-Marc Furlan's side will attempt to maintain their unbeaten home record after collecting four points from their opening two home matches.

Meanwhile, Marseille have started the campaign in fine form under new boss Igor Tudor, who replaced Jorge Sampaoli as head coach in the summer.

With 13 points to their name after five games, Les Phoceens are currently level with Paris Saint-Germain and Lens at the summit of the Ligue 1 table.

After beginning the season with a 4-1 win over Reims, Tudor's side played out a 1-1 draw with Rennes, but they have returned to winning ways in their last three matches.

Their latest victory took place in midweek at the Stade Orange Velodrome, with a Pape Gueye effort proving enough to condemn Clermont to a 1-0 defeat.

After clinching a narrow win on Wednesday, Marseille will look to claim a fourth consecutive victory on Saturday as they attempt to keep pace with defending champions PSG and an in-form Lens side.

Team News

The hosts are unable to call upon the services of Julian Jeanvier, Gaetan Charbonnier and Theo Pellenard, who are all sidelined due to injury issues.

Mathias Autret is expected to return to the starting lineup after coming off the bench to score a consolation against Lyon.

There could also be a place in the side for Gauthier Hein who may replace Lassine Sinayoko in the side.

As for the visitors, they have no reported injury concerns ahead of Saturday's contest, although Duje Caleta-Car has left the club to join Southampton.

Tudor could make a change to his defence, with Leonardo Balerdi set to come into the side to feature in a back three alongside Chancel Mbemba and Eric Bailly.

Jordan Veretout dropped out of the starting XI for the midweek win over Clermont, but the midfielder is expected to return for Saturday's contest.

Auxerre possible starting lineup:
Costil; Pereira, Jubal, Coeff, Mensah; Hein, Raveloson, Toure, Autret, Ruiz-Atil; Da Costa

Marseille possible starting lineup:
Lopez; Mbemba, Bailly, Balerdi; Clauss, Gueye, Rongier, Tavares; Guendouzi, Payet; Payet

We say: Auxerre 1-2 Marseille

Although Auxerre have avoided defeat in their opening two home games, we think that they will lose narrowly to a Marseille side who are aiming to clinch a fourth consecutive victory.
