Almeria have enhanced their chances of survival in La Liga this season with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Granada at home.
The hosts surged ahead in the 14th minute when Sebastian Dubarbier turned home from close range after collecting a deep cross from Oscar Diaz.
Francisco Rodriguez's side doubled their advantage just before the half-hour mark from the penalty spot.
Mainz clashed with Fernando Soriano inside the Granada box and Verza made no mistake in slotting home the resultant spot kick.
The visitors were unlucky not to have halved the deficit on the hour mark when Riki headed Yacine Brahimi's cross against the crossbar.
Almeria then made the points safe on 79 minutes through Alexis Vidal, who latched on to a through-ball from Soriano and finished with ease.
The result lifts Almeria up to 14th in the league table, four points above the relegation zone, while Granada are a place above them.
