Welling United remain four points from safety in the Conference Premier after a 1-0 defeat to Altrincham on Sunday.
In a first half that was devoid of any clear-cut chances for either side, James Lawrie fired wide for Altrincham before Joe Healy failed to hit the trarget for Welling.
The home side were down to 10 men nine minutes into the second half when captain Healy was dismissed for a challenge on Lawrie near the halfway line.
Reece Harris spurned Welling's best opening of the match on 64 minutes when he lashed a half-volley into the side netting after being sent clean through on goal.
Substitute Ryan Crowther broke the deadlock with 14 minutes remaining for the visitors when he was allowed to creep into the area before poking a shot home.
The reverse means that Welling have now lost their last eight games in the division.
