Elgin City have moved off the bottom of the Scottish League Two table courtesy of a goalless draw against Annan Athletic this evening.
The visitors were the first to threaten as Peter Weatherson rose highest in the box to connect with a David Hopkirk corner, but his header was kept out by a fine stop from Michael Fraser.
Elgin had a glorious chance of their own to break the deadlock shortly afterwards as they were awarded a penalty for handball, but Craig Gunn's spot kick was kept out by Alex Mitchell.
It was a first half for the goalkeepers as Fraser once again kept the scores level at the other end, getting down well to deny Matthew Flynn's effort.
Mitchell was beaten shortly before the break as Elgin looked to take the lead, but Iain Chisholm was well placed to nod Shane Sutherland's effort off the line.
The visitors continued to be frustrated by their hosts in the second half as Steven Sloan and Josh Todd both missed decent openings in quick succession.
Elgin should have broken the deadlock with just over 15 minutes remaining as Mitchell failed to gather a corner, but Mark Nicolson's volley from six yards out crashed off the bar.
The hosts came close again in stoppage time as Sutherland's powerful volley was kept out in style by Mitchell, with both sides ultimately settling for a point apiece.
In addition to Elgin climbing up a place to ninth, Annan also move up the table into sixth place thanks to the point.
