Ezequiel Garay has said that Argentina will not make the same mistakes that saw them knocked out of the last World Cup.
The South Americans were beaten 4-0 by Germany in the quarter-finals four years ago and critics have claimed that their current side do not have the strongest defence.
"We know what happened, it's in the past – we won't repeat that," he is quoted as saying by The Guardian.
"Obviously, we have a very offensive team, but we know our rivals are strong, so we will be defending well also and doing the dirty work."
Argentina begin their World Cup campaign against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Sunday.
